The teachers at York Place Preschool & Nursery are committed to providing a friendly, caring and safe centre which encourages and develops the pathway of learning for life.
Relationships between teachers, children and whanau are a priority for us all and we are committed to developing positive, open relationships. We appreciate the unique multicultural environment that we have and welcome members of our wider community to share and celebrate their culture with us.
We believe that children have the right to be valued for their individual qualities and uniqueness. We are committed to developing an understanding of the individual needs of each child.
We believe children learn best when they are engaged and interested and feel they have a strong sense of belonging. As teachers we will provide meaningful learning experiences which encourage tamariki to consider others (mannaakitanga) communicate ideas and foster curiosity within their world.
The teachers at York Place are dedicated to upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We acknowledge that this is an ongoing commitment and we are at different levels of understanding of Te Ao views (Maori world views) so we sill support each other on this learning journey. The teaching team is devoted to supporting each other through communication, and professional development.
We offer classes for 0 - 5 year olds. These are divided into a nursery for children aged 0-2 years and a preschool for children aged 2-5 years with separate indoor and outdoor areas.
We are open Monday to Friday from 7:30am - 6:00pm.
We provide specialised activities and play equipment suited for each age group and ability. York Place Preschool & Nursery enables your child to flourish and grow.
We have been locally owned since late 2014 by Sarah and Jonathon Pleace. We are very proud of our centre and pride ourselves on continually improving. Sarah oversees the running of the centre and prioritises ongoing professional development and growth of our teaching team as well as efficient administration processes. Jonathon takes care of all the centre improvements, such as playground construction, alterations, painting and maintenance. We have three young children, one of which currently attends the centre.
